Live Bird / Nest Removal

Trapped birds rescued and old nests cleared from the flue, then a guard fitted so it stops happening.

A jackdaw nest can fill a flue with a surprising amount of twigs, and a bird that has fallen down a chimney is distressing for everyone involved. Rob deals with both regularly across Barnsley and the surrounding towns.

Trapped birds are released unharmed. Old nests are broken down and removed from the hearth, the flue is swept and smoke tested, and a bird guard cowl is fitted to make sure it is the last one. Active nests are protected by law and are left until the young have fledged.

What is included

  • Safe release of birds trapped in the flue or behind the stove
  • Removal of old nest material from the full length of the flue
  • Full power sweep and smoke test once clear
  • Fitting of a bird guard cowl to prevent re-nesting
  • Advice on timing where an active nest is present

Who it is for

  • Flapping or chirping heard in the chimney breast
  • Stoves and fires that suddenly will not draw in spring
  • Twigs, debris or droppings appearing in the fireplace
