Chimney Integrity Test
Smoke and pressure testing to prove a flue is sound before it is used or signed off.
A flue that leaks lets smoke and carbon monoxide into bedrooms, lofts and next door. Integrity testing proves whether a chimney is gas tight using smoke pellets, draw tests and, where required, pressure testing to current standards.
Rob carries out integrity tests on existing chimneys before stove installation, after repairs, for building control sign off and whenever a homeowner or neighbour suspects a leak.
What is included
- Smoke test with the flue sealed at the top to trace leaks
- Draw test to confirm the flue evacuates properly
- Pressure test where a gas tight result must be documented
- Inspection of adjoining rooms and loft for smoke escape
- Written test result suitable for building control and insurers
Who it is for
- Existing flues about to be used with a stove without a new liner
- Chimneys repaired after a chimney fire or structural movement
- Building control sign off and insurance requirements
