Sweeping and inspection
Homebuyer's Chimney & Flue Inspection Report
A written report on the chimney and flue of a property you are buying, before you exchange.
A standard survey rarely says much about the chimney beyond a line about the pots. If you are buying a house with a stove or open fire, a dedicated chimney and flue inspection tells you what you are actually taking on.
Rob sweeps the flue, runs a CCTV camera through it and checks the appliance, hearth and stack, then puts it all in a written report with photographs you can share with your solicitor or use to negotiate.
What is included
- Sweep of the flue so the camera has a clear view
- CCTV camera inspection of the full length of the flue
- Smoke and draw test
- Inspection of appliance, hearth, surround and ventilation
- External check of stack, flaunching, pots and cowls
- Written report with photographs and recommendations
Who it is for
- Buyers at survey stage on a property with a chimney in use
- Solicitors and estate agents who need an independent opinion
- Buyers planning to fit a stove once they move in
